You should read this document to evaluate if any of the additional software is required for your computer or software installation. It is also important to note that the installation instructions vary depending on the operating system you are installing to. Read the instructions for your operating system very carefully before you actually install the update. The update files referred to in this document are located in the Support folder at the root of the Office 2000 SR-1 CD. The information in this document is current as of the date above. After that date, you may find more current information and resources on the Office Update Web site, available from the Help menu by clicking Office On The Web. Note: To install Office 2000 SR-1 on Windows 2000 or on Windows NT 4.0, you must run Setup with elevated privileges. Elevated privileges give an installation program administrator rights to install software into system areas. To run the installation with elevated privileges, you can use one of the following methods: * Log on to the user’s computer as an administrator before running the installation program. * Advertise the Windows Installer package. When the user first runs the application, the Windows Installer completes the installation under administrator privileges. * Use Windows system policies to allow all Windows Installer packages to install with elevated privileges. * Use Systems Management Server and run the Package Command Manager as a service on the user's computer so that it runs with administrator privileges. * Use Windows 2000 App Deployment to assign or publish Office to the user. * You can also install Office 2000 as a Power User on Windows 2000 without elevated privileges. This version also includes a solution for maintaining accurate regional settings information on Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT 4 platforms that cannot use the Windows 2000 solution. In addition when a program attempts to load a corrupted picture file, Automation now displays an error message, and the program will continue running. To apply this update to Windows 2000 systems, double-click on OA4514.exe located in the \Support\Win2000 folder at the root of the CD or visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. You can also visit http://officeupdate.microsoft.com. To apply this update to a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0 machine, double-click on OAINST.exe located in the \Support\Non2000 folder on the CD-ROM. A previous version of msjet40.dll (version 4.00.2927.4) would remove the stored query’s properties in this scenario. To apply this update to Windows 2000 systems, double-click on OA4514.exe located in the \Support\Win2000 folder at the root of the CD or visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. The following file will be updated to the following version number: File Version msjet40.dll 4.0.2927.17 --------------------------------------------------------- * OE fix for vCard This release of wab32.dll (version 5.00.3013.3100) addresses an issue that prevents Outlook 2000 users from exporting or saving contact information to a VCF file. A previous release of wab32.dll (version 5.0.2919.6600) does not allow the export or save to work. To apply this update to Windows 2000 systems, double-click on OA4514.exe located in the \Support\Win2000 folder at the root of the CD or visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. You can also visit http://officeupdate.microsoft.com. To apply this update to a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0 machine, double-click on Q248120.exe located in the \Support\Non2000 folder on the CD-ROM. The following file will be updated to the following version number: File Version wab32.dll 5.00.3013.3100 --------------------------------------------------------- * MDAC Help Files Installer Windows 2000 installs updated versions of MDAC DLL's, but does not install the associated compiled Help files (CHM's). Access developers rely on the information in these help files as they work. Developers can download a package from the Office Update website that installs the correct help files and updates the appropriate settings in the registry. The help files in the package are: * ado210.chm * msjro.chm * dao360.chm * jeterr40.chm For more information and to obtain the download package, go to the Office Update site at: http://officeupdate.microsoft.com --------------------------------------------------------- * RichEdit 2.0 fix for Arabic and Hebrew systems This release of riched20.dll (5.30.23.1203) addresses a display issue when left to right and right to left text is displayed. To apply this update to Windows 2000 systems, double-click on OA4514.exe located in the \Support\Win2000 folder at the root of the CD or visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. You can also visit http://officeupdate.microsoft.com. To apply this update to a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0 machine, double-click on RichEdit.exe located in the \Support\Non2000 folder on the CD-ROM. In the Richedit dialog, click OK. In the next dialog, click Yes to reboot the computer and complete the file installation, or No to terminate the installation without rebooting. If you click no, the changes will take effect next time you reboot the computer. The following file will be updated to the following version number: File Version riched20.dll 5.30.23.1203 --------------------------------------------------------- * HTML Help installer For all languages, this release of HTML Help will address display issues where non-English text may appear as corrupted strings. The updated version is version 1.3. Office 2000 SR-1 contains version 1.21. It is not necessary to apply this update to Windows 2000. To apply this update to a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0 machine, double-click on hhupd.exe located in the \Support\Non2000 folder on the CD-ROM. In the HTML Help 1.3 dialog, click Yes to install the files, or No to terminate the installation. Then click OK to complete the installation The following files will be updated to the following version number: File Version hh.exe 4.74.8702 hhctrl.ocx 4.74.8702 itircl.dll 4.72.7277.0 itss.dll 4.72.8085.0 --------------------------------------------------------- * IME2000 update for Japanese systems only This update addresses an issue that prevents users from entering ideographic character in the Dictionary tool of IME, if the user installs GIME besides IME2000. It is not necessary to apply this update to Windows 2000. To apply this update to a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0 machine, double-click on gimefix.exe located in the \Support\Non2000 folder on the CD-ROM. The following files will be updated to the following version number: File Version imejp.ime 7.0.1.5010 imejpdct.dll 7.0.1.5010 imejpknl.dll 7.0.1.5010 imejputy.dll 7.0.1.5010 --------------------------------------------------------- * Updated Crypto Service Provider (CSP) for Outlook 2000 SR1 This release of the Exchcsp.dll contains bug fixes and improvements for Outlook 2000 SR1. This file will need to be applied if you have run the patch update to SR1 over Outlook 2000 and use encryption in Outlook. It is not necessary to apply this update to Windows 2000. To apply this update, the following steps must be taken: 1. Determine the strength of encryption on your machine. 2. Launch the appropriate CSP installer. 1. Determine the strength of encryption on your machine. Launch Internet Explorer; select the Help menu; select About Internet Explorer. Note the Cipher Strength (40, 56 or 128 bit). That is your encryption strength. 2. Launch the appropriate CSP installer. If the Cipher Strength was 40 or 56 bit, then run out40.exe. If the Cipher Strength was 128 bit, then run out128.exe Out40.exe and out128.exe can be found in the Support\Non2000 folder located at the root of the CD or visit: http://www.windowsupdate.microsoft.com. You can also visit: http://officeupdate.microsoft.com The following file will be updated to the following version number: File Version exchcsp.dll 5.5.3123.0 (for 40- and 56-bit systems) exchcsp.dll 5.5.3123.1 (for 128-bit system) --------------------------------------------------------- * Updated COMCTL32.DLL for Mini-Language Pack installations This update address a problem in languages using the Mini- Language Pack update version of Office 2000 SR-1. In some languages, the File New dialog may display corrupted text on the tabs after installing the Office 2000 SR-1 update. An updated version of COMCTL32.DLL is available for download at: http://www.windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
